Banana Republic? Check.

Not every wrong, or even every violation of the law, is a crime.

I'd expect to hear that from some anarchist treehugger burning down a mink farm, perhaps, or maybe a draft dodger heading off to Canada. But the quote comes from our very own Attorney General, Michael Mukasey — stooge supreme to the Bush administration, and apparently hell-bent on annihilating what might remain in the way of public faith in the rule of law in this once great nation.

So, apparently, just because a bunch of Bush pencil-pushers broke the law, doesn't mean we should, you know, do anything about it. That's just nice. Really inspires confidence.
